Preparing finance extracts for visual donors packs
Beautiful nonprofit impact dashboards stall when gift categories arrive as narrative paragraphs. Before you book a visual commission, ask finance for a flat table: gift type, amount, restricted flag, and program tag — one row per gift family.
Program teams should add a matching tag dictionary. If “youth” means ages 12–18 in one sheet and “under 25” in another, charts will lie politely. We spend the first week of many annual packs reconciling tags rather than drawing.
Send currency notes too. Mixed baht and dollar columns without a conversion date create false comparisons that donors notice faster than internal teams expect.
